Kr8+ + N2: Coulomb explosion

Coulomb explosion in collisions between Kr8+ and N2 molecules

The movie shows the time dependence of the electronic density in a Kr8+ + N2 collision, calculated with NA-QMD [1]. The highly-charged ion (HCI) removes all valence electrons of the molecule, leading to its Coulomb explosion.
